Upon receiving this book, I read the first 51 pages stopping only because I needed to honor a previously scheduled appointment. Otherwise, I would have continued to read until I had read every page. Reading Jack Perkin's smorgasbord of fascinating life reflections is creating for me a full array of images, feelings, ideas, smiles, vicarious meanderings, and surprise thoughts, inducing me to reflect enjoyably upon my own life. I say "smorgasbord" deliberately because this book is somewhat like a five-star, wide-ranging, open buffet prepared by a distinguished chef whose specialty is arranging life's best foods in new, eye-catching presentations. (NOTE Introductory pages indeed establish the "distinguished life" credentials of the author.) When you experience a truly grand meal, each element has its own texture, flavor, purpose, and effects, both the immediate happiness glow and the long range health benefit. So far, this book is like slowly taking in a grand meal for my mind and soul as the author shares his mind and soul.
As I read, each page contains a beautifully written revelation of the author's contention that all creation is an advertisement. Being a former newsman, Jack Perkins has a keen eye for what is significant and what is not. You will be drawn into a very different way of thinking about the world around you, especially the small things. You will begin to see that everywhere there are "commercials for God" that perhaps you, like Jack, had overlooked or, in some cases, actually turned off. Not any more. Jack is opening my eyes as a good chef stimulates my palate. I, too, anticipate meeting the Creator by exploring creation in a profoundly new way.
Another great book by Jack Perkins. Loved it!
