For this reckless widow, love is the most dangerous game of all.

Caroline, Lady Beaumont, arrives in London seeking excitement after ten dreary years of marriage and an even drearier year of mourning. That means conquering society, dancing like there’s no tomorrow, and taking a lover to provide passion without promises. Promises, in this dashing widow’s dictionary, equal prison. So what is an adventurous lady to do when she loses her heart to a notorious rake who, for the first time in his life, wants forever?

Devilish Silas Nash, Viscount Stone is in love at last with a beautiful, headstrong widow bent on playing the field. Worse, she’s enlisted his help to set her up with his disreputable best friend. No red-blooded man takes such a challenge lying down, and Silas schemes to seduce his darling into his arms, warm, willing and besotted. But will his passionate plots come undone against a woman determined to act the mistress, but never the wife?

The Seduction of Lord Stone Dashing Widows edition by Anna Campbell Romance eBooks

This was an incredible love story about a widow (Caroline) who wants nothing more than to bask in her newfound independence, and Lord Stone (Silas) who intends to to show his beloved the passion and love she's been missing her entire life...

This is the third book by Ms. Campbell that I've read and I find her writing truly enchanting. It does seem though that I love her heroes more than I do her heroines. Silas was everything a woman could want; handsome, virile, romantic, and determined to keep Caroline by his side forever. I liked Caro for the most part although there were times I wanted to knock her upside the head. However, her complete fear of being under another man's control felt real and had me empathizing with her more than once. Both characters were imperfect, but their flaws made them feel more like flesh and blood people to me. In the end this was simply a beautifully written historical romance. This couple's passion and utter sense of belonging was absolutely lovely to witness, especially in a novella. I did think the ending was a little abrupt though, which ended at 86% and loc 1714 of 1985 on my kindle. Still, I can't wait to read Caro's two friends books next and would gladly recommend both this author and story!

The Seduction of Lord Stone Dashing Widows edition by Anna Campbell Romance eBooks Reviews

Good main characters. I could understand Caroline wanting to let loose. She wanted to fill up with everything she missed during her miserable 10 year marriage. It was so restrictive and even her childhood was so severely controlled by her father. The Dashing Widows was a fun way for them to describe themselves. The friendship between the 3 widows was nice.
Silas was a good match for Caroline even though she was terrified of losing her freedom again.
I felt sorry for Silas more than once because of her looking for a lover and never considering how good they were together. He has been quietly wooing her for a year and she hadn't got that at all.

The 2 Chapter look into the other book , "Tempting Mr. Townsend" sounded interesting as well. It's Fenella and Anthony Townsend's story.
I absolutely loved this story. The Seduction of Lord Stone is going on my favourite short stories shelf. It packed a punch. Everything I love about Recency historical romances was included. A scene at the ball, riding in Hyde Park, a picnic by the Thames, the women having tea and the men meeting in the study for serious talks. All of it put a smile on my face and left me content with my purchase.

At the beginning, we meet three women who were all in mourning for their late husbands. Two of the women had bad marriages and one lost the love of her life. Caro's husband died after a long illness, but her marriage was already a disaster before he fell sick. She moves to London after his death and can't wait to start living. Her first step in her quest, is to find a lover. She doesn't want love, just a bed partner. Thinking it smart to get some advice on who to choose, she approaches her friend, who's also the brother of one of the other widows, Silas. Caro has no idea she's about to throw a match to the bonfire.

The Seduction of Lord Stone was funny, sweet, naughty and nice. Even though it was short it was so well written I didn't feel ripped off. Everything that I need in my favourite romance was included, just in a little package. Can't wait to read more in this series.
Seduction of Lord Stone is the first book I have read by Anna Campbell and I will definitely be reading more by her when I get a chance. There is mourning, guilt, friendship, unrealized attraction, planning, plans gone awry, and change of plans. This is a quick and easy read. The story line is good and the characters are developed. The story is well written but I would have liked a better conclusion. Caro’s (Caroline - Lady Beaumont) issues were not really overcome or at least not written as overcome in the story. I would have also liked to have a little more added to ending. It just seemed to stop. I did really enjoy this book and hope to read the rest in this series.
Lured by the good price, I made the mistake of buying the series of short novels before trying one complete one. They are all about the same, just as the covers of the six books are nearly the same, except for the color of the dress. And that means they are all a tiny thread of a romance story & pursuit wound around several long explicit sex scenes; scenes with pretty much the same "action," like the guys all went to the same "How To...." class. At least in the sixth book, the couple is married, although separated for five years before reconnecting.

So, if that's what you go for, have at it. I wish I hadn't.
So I read this while sitting in the OPD section of a very busy hospital because after I went there I was told the doctor would be 2 hrs late and therefore needed some serious distraction.

Boy did this book fulfill that need and more!! I loved it!! It was written mostly from the hero's POV and he was hilarious! The affections and intentions are made clear from the beginnings and the rest of the book simply flows from there. I ended up sitting among a lot of sick, miserable and some even angry people and kept giggling and snickering and overall having a rollicking good time with this book, which unfortunately earned me quite a few unforgiving stares and glares. I forgot the time, forgot my illness and just reveled in the story.

It was very well written and although there wasn't much of a plot - it was a shorter book, it was perfect.

If there was anything I didn't like - it was simply that sometimes I didn't understand the heroine's actions and thought process and while I occasionally wanted to sit her down and tell her not to be a nitwit - she didn't stay silly for long and it didn't detract me from the story too much.
Extremely boring, too much inner thoughts, too much silliness, I found myself passing pages to finish it as soon as possible.
