For a group of San Francisco Bay Area residents, Thursday nights are reserved for kayaking on the bay. Islands, bights, caves, and more . . . no corner of the bay and its history are left unexplored. The tales in this volume chronicle the paddles from October 2000 to November 2001. Better than any travel guide on San Francisco Bay, these volumes capture the flavor of one of the world's most reknown bodies of water.

I've participated in a lot of these paddles and read the reports the following week. I'd scratch my head at some of the details - was it me forgetting or John imagining. Back then it was John imagining I think. Now it's me forgetting. It's wonderful to now be reading the tall tales a second time. I like the way John's telling fills in the gaps in my memory - I think he was right from the start! Great read!Product details

Reflections on San Francisco Bay A Kayaker Tall Tales Vol 2 eBook John Boeschen Reviews
John's description of his paddling adventures will keep you in stitches. Not only are they fun to read, but they are very educational. San Franscico Bay must be a great place to paddle.
The tales in this and all the other volumes of Reflections on San Francisco Bay are fun, brisk reads - each trip is a short, self-encapsulated story, but over the chapters and volumes the larger-than-life-yet-so-real characters continually blossom. By Vol. 2 the nuances of the more regular paddlers create some complex and satisfying inside jokes. Be sure to start reading with Vol. 1, but know that when you get to Vol. 2 there is a lot more going on in the writing than sits on the surface.
I've been reading the series online since it began and can't remember the last time I didn't stop what I was doing and read through each one as it landed in my inbox.
I usually have reservations about sequels. For example, The original "Jaws" film was good enough and the sequels just kind of sank. I wouldn't really call this a sequel though. It's more of a continuum. John reflects on much more than just propelling a kayak. This "second" book is another stepping stone of the timeline of the bay as sampled by Kayakers every Thursday Night on San Francisco Bay.
One of the few things I can count on is that the Author will continue to regale us with his sometimes witty and sometimes silly accounts of the hijinks of the Thursday night crew. I am addicted to his tales and have been following online for years. When I am stuck at work or in traffic on the way home from work its good to know that John and friends are paddling in storms at night or philosophizing around a campfire.
